CRISPR Primer

Dear Paranormal/Conspiracy Friends,

If you would, for just a moment, take your head out of your Ancient Civilizations and pay attention to the present, I’d like to tell you about an amazing new technology that geneticists are using called CRISPR.

I’ve heard it mentioned a lot on science podcasts but not on conspiracy podcasts or forums. Please educate yourselves on this amazing new tech so that you can explain it to me.

  1. I keep forgetting to comment on this because I’m so blown away by the idea! The applications for eliminating disease and congenital ailments using this are myriad… of course, I’d be the jackass going in and asking for bioluminescent skin or a ram’s horns (probably both.) Then everyone would get all persnickety about it and launch into that “just because we can doesn’t mean we should” trope.

It’s like my mom used to say, “Napoleon, you ruined it for everyone!”

I do hope that I live to see this research put into action some day, even if its not being used to turn myself into a dazzling genetic spectacle.

    Hi Evan,

I am neither a conspiratorialist nor am I a scientist but I’m quite fond of perusing scientific topics. I find that one of the better places to being researching a topic of interest is reddit. Try this reddit search:

    Best,

    Ken

Napoléon we’ve never met but rumor has it you already are a dazzling genetic spectacle!

Ken thanks for the great link!

This is one of those topics where I feel I should know more, but which I cant without getting a splitting headache. It’s just too dam complex and this is one of those scientific discoveries which screams ‘eugenics’ yet leaves me paralysed to attempt to do anything about it. I don’t want to be cured of any disease at the cost of a hundred laboratory animals suffering the existence of disease just so it can fix me, the human. The world of scientific ‘good causes’ often leaves out the ‘negative effects’ all a big illusion that it’s in our interests. It isn’t. This will benefit a few and negatively affect many more.
